Mr & Mrs Garland

“Well, fancy it ur no?!”

Matt and Hannah have known each other since school and in a relationship together for over 10 years when Matt finally proposed on holiday in Fuerteventura. Matt's proposal is the epitome of Matt and Hannah's Cornish lifestyle and love shared together. Matt's a chilled out guy, spending most of his spare time surfing and embracing the Cornish way of life. Hannah of course is on the same page, she knows Matt adores her and didn't need an elaborate proposal. Hannah said "I think it had got to the point where I thought it was never going to happen so was so shocked". They have now been together for 12years! They have a fur baby together, a dog named Bryher who is their absolute world. Both Matt & Hannah have a working background in the wedding industry and  both knew what they did and didn’t want. Hannah explains "We didn’t want a church wedding, and we didn’t want a hotel wedding. We searched through all the approved venues in Cornwall and ended up viewing just two! As soon as we viewed Nancarrow and met with Steve Chamberlain we both immediately knew that we wanted to get married there. It ticked all of our boxes and just felt right, the venue is stunning firstly, but Matt is a massive foodie and they just get that element spot on". I couldn't agree more, it was my first time shooting at Nancarrow after seeing and hearing so much about the venue. It really didn't disappoint and I would also highly recommend to any potential couples thinking about possible venues, Nancarrow definitely ticks all the boxes and the staff are amazing. Just to also confirm the food was delicious, changing my opinion on tomatoes haha so tasty! Matt and Hannah continued to do things their way on the big day, relaxed and fun without restraints of traditional parameters such as cutting the cake or a first dance. I think this is also why they decided to choose me as the photographer, knowing Matt for a few years from surfing, they knew my personality matched theirs and knew I wouldn't overpower or direct any situation. Documenting the day in a relaxed, calm way shooting natural images.

The morning began with Matt and all the boys surfing at Perranporth, the waves were small and it rained lots but Matt managed to pick off a few peaches and returned stoked. In Matt's words “Don’t worry about the wedding photo's, just send over the surf pics!!” haha. The rain continued for most of the day only really easing late evening, so another wet wedding with my camera in a 5p shopping bag trying to stay dry. It may look a bit ridiculous but it allows me to shoot in heavy rain and still feel like I have complete control over the camera. Hannah just cracked on regardless of the prolonged rainfall and again with help of the excellent staff at Nancarrow loved her special day. I hope the pictures also show other potential couples that it really doesn't matter, in-fact the brolly's add a really nice element to the images.

The venue is absolutely amazing at Nancarrow, everything is so close together which as a photographer is great to be able to run between parties or never too far from the action, loved it. Only upstaged by Hannah herself who looked amazing, her hair is easily the best hair I have ever photographed, just stunning.

After the rain finally stopped we managed to explore Nancarrow and create some beautiful images together. The barn is such an amazing shape with almost perfect symmetry, as a photographer this brings such a pleasing balance to an image and was a joy to capture with the newly wed couple.

Matt and Hannah continued to party long into the evening thanks to the band Brother Ray who travelled all the way down from Cardiff. An amazing day at an amazing venue with an amazing couple with amazing hair (Matt not so much!). Matt and Hannah then jetted off to Greece for their honeymoon, any waves Matt? haha

Congratulations to you both, you smashed it. I loved being a small part of your day with all your friends and family and wish you all the best. See you in the water Matt. Much love, Chris.
